Hi, this species is indusiate. Cyathea pauciflora should be exindusiate. The characters shown in this species match Cyathea lindeniana C.Presl: dark axes, stalked pinnae (at least central ones), also largest pinnules weakly stalked (but can also be subsessile); no visible hairs on lamina (vs. in C. pauciflora at least visible and touchable on upper side) and abaxial sides of axes but scant orange-brown scurf.

Hello Professor Lehnert, thank you for your assessment about this plant.

In a recent update of the determination of this specimen, F. Giraldo and I determined it as Cyathea squamipes H. Karst. Now, I agree with your current determination because I am observing that the petiole scales are not contrastingly bicolor as you report for C. squamipes in the review of the Cyathea caracasana complex (2009).
On this specimen, almost concolorous scales were not observed on distal portions of the petiole. What other character do you recommend observing to distinguish between these two species?

    Thanks again. Greetings

Thanks Marcus and Jonatan! I will update the determination on this.
