Dryopteris filix-mas, growing on a shale slope at ca. 1900 m above sea level, in Sierra Nevada National Park, Almeria, Spain. Although a common fern in most of its european range, this species is found only in a few mountainous localities in Andalusia, southern Iberian Peninsula. Deforestation, recurrent fires and drought have reduced populations of many species in this region.
