This population of Asplenium barbaense included epipetric and hemiepiphytic plants. Hemiepiphystism has not previously been reported for this species. Plants photographed here were starting as low-trunk epiphytes and then making contact with soil via long roots. Notice that the difference in leaf morphology exhibited by the youngess plants that are not yet connected to soil from mature plants that are connected to soil by roots.
