Elaphoglossum viscidum is endemic to Brazil, occurring in the mountains of Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais. The whole plant is somewhat resinous (a reddish brown resin probably exuded by glands on the scales), staining the newspaper in which the plants are pressed in the field.
