Anemia has about 125 species, 80 of which occurring in Brazil. Nearly all species grow in dry, open or semi-open habitats (i.e., cerrado, campos rupestres, inselbergs, etc.). Anemia organensis occurs in areas of open vegetation within the Atlantic rainforest.
