What an interesting habitat to find Pleopeltis. I am more used to seeing it as an epiphyte in humid forests.
Yes, it is a very interesting plant!Possibly P. lepidopteris (Langsd. & Fisch.) de la Sota. It’s also found at the coastal sand plains (Restingas) around Rio de Janeiro. Well there is a group of species very similar, but my best shot by those pictures and the habitat is lepdopteris. I just found a paper (http://rodriguesia.jbrj.gov.br/rodrig60_4/070-08.pdf) about development of this species. It’s in portuguese but english speakers can read the figures. Seriously it has bilingual legends!
